Will a sound system marked as 1080p work for a 720p HDTV?
I'm on the verge of ordering these two products:

The former is marked as 1080p, so I just want to know if it's still compatible with a HDTV of a lower resolution, such as 720p. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The sound system audio reproduction has nothing to do with video. 1080p and 720p are video signals. The Sony will just peal off the audio section of the signal and pass on the video signal to the TV. The 1080p spec that the audio system is referring to is that it has the ability to pass or switch up to a 1080p signal. So if your tv is 720p that will be fine. The sound system will pass 720p to the TV. Your HDMI will read your TV's resolution output and communicate that down the chain back to your video player. Your video player will read that communication and send out the max resolution your tv will display. Keep in mind that just because you have a HDTV dosnt mean that you will have a HD picture. But that your TV is capable of receiving a HD signal.
