Kit Lens
I own a Nikon D60 and using the kit lens. What do you recommend if I want to buy a Zoom Lens?
Is it 3rd party brands like Tokina, Sigma or Tamron? Or is it better to go for Nikkor lenses..? I'm a photography newbie by the way.. Thanks.
If you want to supplement your current lens and want to more magnification I would buy Nikon 55-200 VR zoom or 55-200 non-VR if you are on a budget. FYI both lenses are sharper at 200 mm than the more expensive Nikon 18-200 mm by the way.
If you want better low-light performance I recommend a 50mm lens. unfortunately the only AF-S that is available is the 50 f 1.4 AF-S and its more than $400.
FYI, Nikon 10.5 mm, Tokina 11-16 mm, Tamron 18-200 don't auto-focus on your camera so don't get them until it is offered with a "built-in motor" aka AF-S.
Finally, generally Nikon Lens are much better than 3rd party mfgs but there are exceptions you need to read and compare reviews for each individual lens you are considering buying.
