New to photography - help please?
Happy new year. I have just treated myself to a new EOS 450D canon, but I'm pretty new to this photography thing. Apart from a bag, which I've ordered, I was wondering what basic bits of kit you find essential. What else should I get, and why will it make my life easier

i would recommend an external hard drive to back all your pictures up on
a couple of spare cards 4gb size not sure what the canon uses as i use nikon and that takes a cf card.
i find my 18-200 lenses is the lens i use the most i dont know if canon make one if not look at sigma canon fit
its handy to have a tripod if you want to do low light pictures, you dont need to spend a bomb on top of the range ones just a sturdy one will do with a pan and tilt head
I presume you have a pop up flash i would use this until your more experienced and need a flash gun
I would also get a rocket blower to keep your mirror clean and blow your lenses clean
